We want you to make the most informed decision for your family and group. Here are some frequently asked questions to help you navigate Washington, DC.

While there are certainly busier times than others in DC (Cherry Blossom season comes to mind immediately), Friends in DC is excited to welcome you here whenever you’d like to visit. We have plenty of recommendations no matter the weather or season!

Did you know that the Vietnam Veterans Memorial symbolically points towards the Washington Monument & Lincoln Memorial? Or that The Jefferson Memorial is purposefully positioned towards the White House? You’re not going to find this information on your own. Allow your guide to expand your knowledge of Washington, DC and go back home feeling pride and amazement in the construction of the nation’s capital.

The more advanced notice, the more likely we are able to accommodate your requests. Typically, visitors of Washington, DC start making reservations within two weeks of their desired tour experience.

Friends in DC offers a 12 hour cancellation/refund policy. If you have to cancel with less than 12 hours notice, we can still provide you with a credit that is valid for 12 months from the original date of the tour.

As a general rule of thumb, at least 48 hours notice allows us to execute your upgrade without a problem. Reach out to us if you’d like to book an upgrade within that 48 hour timeframe, and we will do our best to accommodate.

While we can accommodate all ages, we recommend ages 12 - 75. Sometimes we are in areas that are not conducive to very little children. Sometimes we are in areas that are not conducive to those who cannot walk at a moderate pace, for two miles at a time. You know your family best, so we will follow your lead, however those are our suggestions.

Yes. On your confirmation booking email, along with your final check-in email, we will send you a link to that specific building’s security check requirements. As a general rule of thumb, aerosols, food, and sharp objects of any kind are prohibited from entering these buildings. Water bottles are ok, but it is likely you will have to dump out your water before entering the building, only to refill it once you’ve gone inside.

In general, always bring a water bottle—especially during the summer months. Leave the spray sunscreens at home, along with anything that may be considered a weapon (even your Swiss Army knife). Should you need a snack during your tour, I recommend our DC Tasting Kit Package.
